The Nagari Mission was started in the year 1959. This mission was managed by the parish priest of Renigunta parish. Eucharistic celebrations and religious services were conducted in a temporary church, built next to Ekambarakuppam railway station.
In the year 1978 Nagari mission was made as an independent parish and was handed over to the Capuchin Friars of Coimbatore province. This unit consisted of the Roman catholic families of Nagari town, Ekambarakuppam, Iruguvai and Gundrajakuppam villages and Puttur town.
A small permanent church was built in the church property on Tirupathyroad in the year 1978.
The congregation of Aloysius Conzaga was invited to start a school in the same campus in the year 1982. As the number of believers increased the present bigger church was built in the year 1996 and was renovated in the year 2021. In the year 2015 the sisters of Our Lady of Mercy were invited to take up educational ministry in this parish.
The Nagari mission was started by Fr. Paul Kuripilli, the then parish priest of Reniguta parish. This mission comprised of a few surrounding villages like Ekambarakuppam, Iruguvai Gundrajakuppam and a few villages in the present Tamilnadu state.
